'Lexington Street' plays Porthole on Saturday night By Sean Leonard / The Daily Item LYNN --
 Lexington Street, a leading North Shore cover band from Lynn that gets crowds moving with a range of classic and contemporary rock hits from the likes of Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Kings of Leon, Adele, Katy Perry and even Lada Gaga, play at the Porthole Restaurant Saturday night.

Joe Savia, the band’s manager and lead vocalist and guitar player, said the band gets its name from the actual Lexington Street in Lynn, where he and fellow band member and bass player Ryan Boisselle grew up.

“Four out of six of us live in Lynn,” Savia said, “and we have a great local following.”

The group was recently voted “Favorite Band” at The Brickyard in Lynn, and plays primarily Lynn and North Shore gigs including a number of benefits n including Holy Family’s Festa Italiana and The Salem Cancer Walk n as well as private parties.

The group’s website, lexingtonstreetband.com, describes the band as “able to play to a quiet dinner crowd or a raucous dance crowd.

“Saturday night we’ll have a great dance crowd,” Savia said.

Other band members include Jimmy Whalen on drums, Pail Paglierani on keys, Len Morrissey on lead guitar and female vocalist Magi Lindeman.

“Magi has an amazing voice,” Savia said, noting she sings, among other hits, Adele’s Rolling In The Deep and Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi.

Savia handles of the lead male vocals on tunes including Time and Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd.

“We have some original music but its the covers people want to hear,” Savia said, noting the band plays two or three gigs per month, on average, and practices once a month at a Peabody location.

“We do this because we all love performing. There’s six of us so it’s not about the money. It’s just a lot of fun and gives us an outlet,” he said.
